Colour Trends for 2011
Feeling a little funky and wishing you had been around in the 80’s to
enjoy the craziness of the “I generation?” Well, here’s your chance
because this season’s look is all about a bit of a shock here, and
little over there. It’s expected that a lock of flaming red or a black
wisp peeking out at the back will be allowing one’s individuality to
shine through, and why not? When it comes to beauty and fashion, putting
a new twist on an old look can be exciting and fresh. Deeper reds,
richer auburns and pure platinum are some of the one tone colours coming
down the run ways and into the salons near you.

The blonde bombs will be going all out with the sun kissed highlights
that will reflect and bounce the light in all sorts of eye catching
ways. The luxe will be seen as an all over colour and sported by those
whose skin tone is suited to the unique colour. Explore it as an option;
if you have warm tones in your skin colour, then you may be in the
position to wear the newest colour worth noting. Also popular this
season is hair glazing. The process will pump up your colour and add the
shine you can never get enough of! This process can be done at home in
these easy steps.
- Select the hair colour that matches yours.
- Shampoo your hair, do not apply condition and towel blot your
hair dry.
- Detangle your hair.
- Pour out half the developer from the bottle it is in.
- Replace the amount poured out with water, creating a gloss.
- Mix the colour and apply entirely over your hair.
- Set timer for 3 minutes and remove.
- Once you have rinsed clean, shampoo and condition for a shiny
gorgeous finish
There are many reasons to change your hair colour. The majority of us
consider doing so as major life transitions are happening. If this is
where you are and you are acknowledging your yearning for change,
perhaps visiting a stylist to receive a consultation should be your
first step. Whether you are looking for your first job, leaving an old
relationship and looking for a new, it’s not so much the colour you
choose as the confidence you feel in shaking things up and looking good
doing it. Something else to consider is that a new hair colour can, at
times, call for new makeup. Redheads cannot wear pink lipstick and look
best in neutrals. Blondes are fab with paler eye shadow and lip colour.
Brunettes carry richer shades to the max.

Bringing a picture along for your consultation is fine. Also, ask the
stylist if she has a book with the latest colours that the salon carries
for your consideration. Be certain that you both agree on the tone of
the colour. What may be gold to you is orange to the stylist, so be open
and communicate what you are looking for.
